Sky

We're committed to ensuring that all our products and services are fully inclusive and easy for everyone to use. So, if you or someone you know has a disability, or might just benefit from some additional support or custom features, take a look at what we have to offer.

It's important to us that everyone gets great customer service and can enjoy our products, no matter their level of sight. So, if you're blind, partially sighted or struggle to see or read the screen, we’ve a range of features to help you get the most from our products and services.

Audio Description (AD) is an additional audio narration track for movies and TV shows, designed primarily for blind and visually impaired people. During gaps in the dialogue, a narrator describes what’s happening visually on screen.
We provide audio description for 28% of our shows on 25 of our channels, and Sky News and Sky Sports News have a high level of spoken content – that’s almost triple what Ofcom requires us to do under the 2003 Communications Act and Ofcom Code on Television Access Services.

Sky for hearing impairment

So, whether you're deaf, hard of hearing, or simply struggling to hear the TV for any reason, we’ve a range of features to help you get the most from our products and services. We've been broadcasting subtitles since 1993, and today they’re available for live, On Demand, Catch Up, Box Sets and Sky Cinema content on Sky Q and Sky+. Around 90% of our own content has subtitles. Read more about our subtitling work in Francesca's blog. Many broadcasters offer signed versions of their shows and others, like us, contribute to content created in British Sign Language (BSL) by the British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust (BSLBT). We know how important BSL is in shows for d/Deaf[MC(CE1] and hard of hearing people. That's why we've also made BSLBT’s TV shows available on demand on your Sky Q or Sky+ box.
