Since Harvey Nichols first opened in Knightsbridge in 1831, it has led the way in sourcing the most desirable and cutting-edge designer brands. Recognised as the UK's premier luxury fashion retailer, Harvey Nichols is internationally renowned for its expertly edited fashion and beauty merchandise, premium food and wine offer and award-winning restaurants.
Harvey Nichols has seven stores within the UK and Ireland, consisting of five large-format stores in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, and two small-format stores in Bristol and Dublin. A beauty concept store, Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols, opened in Liverpool in November 2012.
All UK stores have luxury Foodmarkets and Restaurants, Cafés or Brasseries. Harvey Nichols also owns and operates OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie on the South Bank in London.
In addition to this, there are six large-format stores overseas: one in Riyadh, one in Dubai, two in Hong Kong, one in Doha Festival City and one in Kuwait.
Harvey Nichols stores offer the ultimate fashion experience. Seen as ‘the place to be’, Harvey Nichols is the club that doesn’t require a membership. History
In 1831, Benjamin Harvey opened a linen shop in a terraced house on the corner of Knightsbridge and Sloane Street in London.
In 1835, the shop expanded to No.8 next door, and would continue to expand into successive properties over the following years. In 1841, Benjamin employed James Nichols from Oxfordshire. In 1845, Nichols was promoted to management and in 1848, he married Harvey’s niece, Anne Beale. Meanwhile, in 1847, Harvey's son and heir Benjamin Charles was born.
Benjamin Harvey died in 1850, leaving the business in the care of his wife Anne, who went into partnership with James Nichols to form Harvey Nichols & Co.
Harvey Nichols is committed to sustainable and responsible practice across all areas of its business, and ethical sourcing is an important part of this programme. This Code of Conduct sets out the minimum requirements that our Suppliers, Agencies and Concessions (“Associates”) must adhere to in order to trade with Harvey Nichols.
We expect all of our Associates to review and regularly audit their supply chain as a matter of priority to ensure that our standards are met.
We shall require compliance with this Code of Conduct in our contracts with Associates and require that they impose equivalent obligations on their own Associates.
Subject to any contractual terms, we may terminate our relationship if an Associate fails to comply with this Code of Conduct. If appropriate, we may report any breach of the Code of Conduct to the appropriate authorities.
