Our Story
In 1971, a group of climbers, skiers, and outdoor enthusiasts established/founded Oregon Mountain Community (OMC) in Portland, Oregon. Today, OMC continues to provide the best gear, service, and shopping experience to our customers. We haven't lost the desire to provide the best shopping experience. Welcome to our community of devoted and enthusiastic mountain people.
Our History
Oregon Mountain Community moved from Oregon's historic Chinatown in the Portland Metro area, and settled in the East side in 2005. The store moved to Sandy Blvd, just off Interstate 84 at exit 1, to accommodate even more inventory. Since then OMC has been the anchor of outdoor life of its loyal customers for multiple generations. We started as, and still operate as a locally owned and operated company. In July of 2019 OMC switched from an online and retail store to just the online store to better serve it's customers.

Our Collaboration with Mountain Shop
In 2019 Oregon Mountain Community moved to an online only store, closing our brick-and-mortar retail floor. Oregon Mountain Community still operates at 2975 NE Sandy Blvd in Suite A (the top floor and the basement). Moving into the retail floor space of Suite B is The Mountain Shop, one of the oldest outdoor companies in Oregon. We believe this partnership will allow both companies to mutually benefit from each others expertise.

Shipping & Returns
When free shipping is selected, OMCgear will decide the most efficient carrier for your shipment.
Free shipping packages should arrive within 2-6 business days. Shipments bound for Alaska and/or Hawaii may be subject to a delay of 1-3 business days.
Carriers that are used are United Parcel Service (UPS), Fed-Ex, or the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Rates are subject to change, but shipping charges are subsidized in order to pass along our volume discount.
The rates will vary depending on the total weight of the items in your purchase. The estimated shipping cost can be viewed in the shopping cart and during the check out process.
In-store pickup: At this time we are not accepting in-store pickup orders to be placed online. If you do need to arrange for an in-store pickup, please contact our customer service department at 503-227-1038 and our team can place the order and set a pickup time.
FREE SHIPPING PROMOTION RULES: Orders that have a total of $50.00 or more after discounts and are shipped within the continental United States qualify for free shipping. Oversized, heavy, or large orders with multiple boxes do not qualify for the free shipping option.
