The way we live, shop and use our homes may have changed over the past five decades, but we all still need homes that work for every member of our household; homes that use space brilliantly, provide a balance of comfort and practicality, and are easy to maintain and improve so they look and feel great. 

Build a life

At B&Q we’ve been providing the tools, materials and know-how to improve homes for over 50 years, and to us, these things are more than bricks and mortar. We firmly believe that everyone has the potential to change their life through improving their home and in a recent survey, we found out that the great British public agrees. Nine out of ten people said that home is important to make life better. We also found that home truly is a sanctuary, with gardening and decorating being the most coveted projects to make life better. A fresh bed of flowers or a picture on the wall doesn’t just say “this place belongs to me”, it says “I belong here” and every time we build anything in our home, we build a life.

A great time for 50 community projects

To help mark our 50th anniversary we’ve been busy completing 50 good home community projects across the UK & Ireland. Each of our regions have recruited a team of colleagues – donning their signature orange aprons – to undertake a host of home improvement projects for local charities and community initiatives.

We’ve been painting, planting, tiling, flooring, building, decking and assembling, creating good homes and better spaces for all those who use these vital community services. We’re introducing innovative products and solutions across our ranges to help make home improvement easier for our customers.
