What is a Pocketmags account?

A Pocketmags account allows you to access and read your purchases on multiple devices; including PC and Mac, Apple devices (e.g. iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) and Android. You can see what formats your favourite title is available for on the magazine’s page on Pocketmags. An account also protects your purchases in the case of a lost or stolen device.

Some magazine apps are free, but most are not. In Apple’s App Store almost all of the magazine apps say that they are free, but this is the ‘container’ or ‘shell app’ – the actual magazine is sold as an ‘in-app purchase’. However, there are often free samples and free trials of magazines on offer. Can I read offline

All of our mobile and tablet apps allow offline reading. Once an issue has been downloaded you can read it with or without a connection. 
On PC, if you have Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 you can download the Pocketmags app which includes offline reading. There is currently no Mac offline reading solution.

What's the difference between Pocketmags and a magazine's 'branded' app in Apple Newsstand/ Google Play etc?

Pocketmags allows you to keep all of your magazines in one single app rather than having individual apps for each title. Other than that, if they are powered by Pocketmags, the reading experience is the same in the Pocketmags app or the individual app. 
Using Pocketmags.com to buy your magazines and then read them in the Pocketmags app can often be advantageous as you'll have access to exclusive offers on the Pocketmags website which are not available in app.
