A LITTLE OF OUR HISTORY

Park Cameras is a family run business set-up way back in 1971 by Sussex based photographer Reg Atkins. Reg founded the company with just £500 of used camera stock, growing the business over decades, which sees us celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2021. We have stayed true to Reg’s original vision and continue to provide good honest advice from one photographer to another, under the guidance of Reg’s son Roscoe, who took the helm in 2013. We are proud of our roots, have relished all of the hard work which has gone into shaping our company and invite visitors to read more and watch the company video on our history page.

50 years ago, in Lower Church Road, Park Cameras opened its doors for the first time to sell its first photographic equipment, initially armed with just £500 worth of used cameras as stock. The foundations of our company were set in place, and Reg Atkins then brought in some friends to help, along with his sister-in-law, Lin, for over 30 years, 3 of his children, his nephew, his niece, his brother and roped in his parents many times too!

Throughout these 50 years of business we have forged a reputation across the photographic industry as one of the top independent retailers in the UK. All of our team are enthusiastic photographers themselves, delivering expert advice across all of our products, together with a generous helping of enthusiasm, which fellow photographers always appreciate. To this day we strive to make Park Cameras the most inspiring place for everything photographic, for any level of photographer and videographer.

We’ve always worked “To provide good, honest, friendly advice from one photographer to another.” This was Reg’s original vision from the day Park Cameras was established.

WHAT SETS US APART

As we have grown, so have our stores and our product ranges. Our Sussex and London showrooms are packed with 1000’s of photography products and accessories, where customers can try out equipment and ask staff anything about the gear we provide. We also deliver online purchases free of charge on every order over £50. Our ‘click and collect’ service lets customers collect items within two hours of ordering and we’ll even pick up customer equipment which they are trading in. We really do work hard to earn the positive reviews we receive.
