OUR HISTORY

It all started with one woman’s trip to India all the way back in 1974.

Antonia strove to be independent, working with a movement of traders to forge her own path to support her family. Antonia created the first ‘lifestyle’ brand that imported exotic homewares from India, Morocco and Europe to the UK.

On Easter Monday in 1974 we opened our first store on Elgin Crescent, Notting Hill. The store became home to Antonia’s exotic and eclectic finds from around the globe, and you can still find us in the same spot today.

… And it’s illustrated by hand. We worked closely with talented illustrators to recreate our shop window, and every item could be purchased from these pictures.

Our second independent store opens on Regent’s Park Road, Primrose Hill. This vibrant area perfectly suits our unique-spirited style, and you can visit us in the same spot today.

After graduating from Kingston University with a degree in Furniture and Product Design, Jamie becomes an integral part of G&G as Creative Director. Using his eye for design and experience growing up surrounded by unusual homewares, he begins working closely with our international suppliers to design and make unique furniture collections, something which he is still doing today.

After 37 years at Graham & Green, Antonia retires. Her legacy leaves two unique boutique stores in London’s most vibrant areas, close relationships with suppliers around the globe and a rich array of memories. Jamie and Lou have already been working very closely with Antonia in their careers at Graham & Green, and take on the roles of Managing Director and Director of Sales & Marketing respectively.

Looking for a change of pace, Jamie and Lou, together with their son Max and two dogs, leave bustling London life for the picturesque city of Bath and the surrounding countryside.

The perfect place to showcase our growing collection of furniture, upholstery, lighting and home accessories. Our flagship store is just around the corner from the inspiring Westbourne Grove and provides enough space for our thriving trade department and design consultancy services.

After moving to Bath a year before, we found ourselves on the inspiring and independent Walcot Street in Bath’s artisan quarter. This soon became home to our first store outside London and the company’s head office.

We’ve worked closely with award-winning developers to create a new bespoke website, bursting with G&G’s signature style.

So, you want to know what makes a product ‘cult’?

Aside from eliciting squeals of delight when it arrives at CBHQ (a sure-fire sign that we’re on to a winner), it also has to exceed all our expectations (and often shift the goalposts altogether). These are the products you will. not. be. parted from – the jars you dutifully decant, the tubes you scissor open and the bottles you store upside down to ensure you don’t waste a single drop.

Firm fixtures of make up artists’ kits, you’ll find these formulas jealously guarded backstage at fashion weeks and photoshoots, and also in the bathrooms of the AAA-List who choose these products for love (not money). Staggeringly efficacious, these do ‘what they say on the tin’ and then some… the only thing they will not do is disappoint.
