Our story.

In 2008, Saeju Jeong and Artem Petakov founded Noom because they were dissatisfied with how the American healthcare system focused on sick care instead of health care.

Research showed that up to 50% of premature deaths were attributable to behavior and preventable causes, but they saw that not enough was being done to address this problem. So they took the challenge into their own hands, focusing on building digital products that helped people take control of their health. Through years of experimenting, researching, and speaking with people from all over the world, they learned that weight and behavior change play a major role in addressing chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension. It became clear to Saeju and Artem that helping people achieve a healthy weight was a critical starting point for creating transformative long-term health outcomes.

Now, after helping millions of people lose weight and lead healthier lives, they’re taking what they’ve learned and applying it to the world’s largest health problems. Noom’s highly-adaptable behavior change platform is a powerful tool for addressing a broad range of chronic and non-chronic conditions, and helping more people live healthier lives.
